To celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Chapter it was decided to have a banner made and on Saturday 14th July 2007 the Second Provincial Grand Principal E Comp Alan Game together with the recently appointed Third Provincial Grand Principal E Comp Doug Hughes and the immediate Past Third Provincial Grand Principal E Comp John Sylvester dedicated the banner. The ceremony which was held at Wilmington was attended by 80 Companions, wives, partners and friends. The magnificent ceremony during which Alan Game explained to the visitors much of the symbolism of the Banners, Ensigns and furniture of the Chapter which had been left fully erected following the shortened regular meeting which had preceded the Dedication.
The ceremony was followed by a glass of bubbly for all and a celebration dinner. During a speech by the Scribe E of the Chapter E Comp David Stiff proposing a toast to the Ladies and Guests of the Chapter he called upon the First Principal E Comp Roy Cockburn to present a bouquet of flowers a small gift and a cheque to Mrs Janet Stiff for a charity of her choice in thanks for her both making and donating the Banner. It was agreed by all that the banner looked superb and that it demonstrated considerable skill. It was announced that the cheque would be presented to the Orchid Trust whose mission is saving men's lives from testicular, prostate and penile cancers through pioneering research and promoting awareness.
Everyone present also received a commemorative gift Cuff Links for the gentlemen and a mirror compact for the ladies all decorated with a specially commissioned emblem using the central theme of the banner.
In the brochure prepared for the day Roy Cockburn the First Principal of the Chapter wrote: The Banner we are dedicating today will be proudly displayed at each Chapter Meeting and will be a "Rallying Point" for our members for many years to come.
